Dallas–Fort Worth Buying Guide

Patio Furniture for Dallas–Fort Worth: A North Texas Buying Guide

North Texas asks two very different things of patio furniture. From March into June it’s hail, straight-line wind, and storms that build over the plains west of Fort Worth and cross the Metroplex by evening. From July into September it’s the heat — long stretches in the upper 90s with triple-digit days mixed in. A patio in Plano, Frisco, Arlington, or Fort Worth has to handle both. Here’s how we’d shop for it: the climate, why published furniture weight matters, sizing for North Texas yards, and the written terms behind an order that ships free to any DFW address.

Planning Patio Furniture Around DFW Hail, Wind, and Summer Heat

The National Weather Service office in Fort Worth serves the whole Metroplex, and its climate records show the pattern every North Texan knows: average July and August highs in the mid-90s, around 20 days a year at 100°F or above, and roughly 37 inches of rain, much of it in spring storms (NWS Fort Worth/Dallas; NOAA NCEI climate normals). NOAA’s Severe Storms Laboratory notes that hail forms in strong thunderstorm updrafts and that the central and southern Plains see it most often (NSSL Severe Weather 101).

So the DFW plan has a storm half and a heat half. For the storm half, decide now which pieces stay out and which come under the patio roof when a warning is issued. For the heat half, walk the yard in late afternoon: a west-facing patio in Frisco or McKinney gets the full brunt of a July sunset, while a covered patio on the east side of the house is usable much earlier in the evening.

Hail calls for a protection plan.

Nothing outdoors is hail-proof, and we do not publish a hail rating. Move smaller pieces under cover when severe weather is forecast and use the seven-year structural warranty, rather than an assumed material property, to understand the written coverage.

Straight-line wind is the bigger risk to furniture.

Severe storms across the Metroplex bring outflow gusts that flip light chairs and send tables across a yard. Weight is the answer, and the section below puts real numbers on it.

Heat: lighter colors stay cooler.

On an open Arlington or Plano patio, White and Dove Gray reflect more sun and stay cooler to the touch than Charcoal or Mocha. Every surface in direct August sun gets hot; shade makes the bigger difference.

Fading is answered in writing.

North Texas gets long, bright summers. Rather than predict how a color holds up, every piece carries a five-year fading warranty next to the seven-year structural warranty.

Check the joints as closely as the boards.

The furniture uses Marine Grade Polymer and includes 3/16″ stainless steel hardware for assembly. Publishing the fastener size gives North Texas buyers something concrete to compare when another listing stops at a general hardware description. Our materials guide covers the material choice.

Plains Wind, Weight, and Why the Adirondack Weighs 52 Pounds

The Hampton Adirondack Chair is published at 52 pounds, a client-confirmed number. On a North Texas patio, that is a useful comparison when a buyer is deciding what can remain in an exposed area and what should move under cover before a storm.

We don’t publish a wind rating, because the honest number depends on the fence height, the exposure, and what a gust catches. What we can say is that a low, wide chair that weighs 52 pounds takes far more force to slide or tip than a light one. Our advice for DFW is to leave the Adirondacks out and treat the lighter pieces as the ones to move.

Hampton Adirondack Chair52 lbs — the anchor piece; the weight that makes it hard to shove
Armless Café Chair27 lbs — tucks under a table, which also shelters it
Counter Height Stool21 lbs — light enough to bring under cover before a storm
Hampton Round End Table15 lbs — place it between two chairs so it’s boxed in
Hampton Square End Table15 lbs — same plan: between chairs or against a wall

When NWS Fort Worth issues a severe thunderstorm warning, bring the stools and end tables under the patio roof or into the garage. After the storm, hose off the Adirondacks and you’re done.

Measure Before You Order

North Texas backyards are generous, but the covered patio usually isn’t. Most new-build homes in Frisco, Prosper, and McKinney have a covered patio 10 to 12 feet deep, and that’s where furniture ends up living during storm season. Measure the open area where each piece will sit and check it against the listed dimensions above.

  • For a covered patio, measure from the house wall to the post line. The Adirondack is 30″ deep and reclines, so leave clear space in front of it.
  • For fire-pit seating, allow the full 36″ width per Adirondack plus walking room behind; four chairs around a ring need more circumference than most people guess.
  • For a bar ledge or outdoor kitchen, measure floor to the underside of the counter; the stool seat sits at 25″.
  • For end tables, measure the gap between chair arms; the round table needs 17″ across, the square table 15″.

Dallas–Fort Worth Buying Questions

Will hail ruin the furniture?

Nothing outdoors is hail-proof, and we do not publish a hail rating. Move smaller pieces under cover when severe weather is forecast and read the seven-year structural warranty for the exact written coverage.

Can I leave it out through storm season?

The 52-pound Adirondack chairs can stay out. The 15-pound end tables and 21-pound stools are the pieces we’d bring under the patio roof when a severe thunderstorm warning is issued for your county.

Which color handles a west-facing patio best?

Lighter shades — White, Dove Gray — reflect more sun and stay cooler to the touch. We don’t rank colors for durability; all of them carry the same five-year fading warranty.

Does free shipping cover the whole Metroplex?

Yes. Every order ships free to any address in the United States, including Dallas, Fort Worth, and every suburb in between, and the product price is the complete cost.

Can I start with two chairs and add more later?

Yes. Nothing is sold as a forced set. Each chair, stool, and table is priced individually, so a fire-pit circle can start with two Adirondacks and grow.
